At a glance

These Grade 5 worksheets build skills step by step—from recognizing adjacent angles to finding missing angle measures and solving challenge problems.

Included topics: rules and examples, adjacent or not adjacent, identifying angle pairs, addition, subtraction, straight-line angles, mixed practice, and challenge questions.

What are adjacent angles?

Adjacent angles are next to each other. They share a common vertex and one common side, and their interiors do not overlap.

Remember: Adjacent angles share the same vertex and one side, and they do not overlap.

Example: Adding adjacent angles

35° + 25° = 60°

If two adjacent angles measure 35° and 25°, their combined angle measures 60°.

Example: Finding a missing angle

120° − 45° = 75°

If a whole angle measures 120° and one part measures 45°, the other part measures 75°.

Adjacent angles on a straight line

Angles that form a straight line add to 180°. If one angle measures 65°, the adjacent angle is:

180° − 65° = 115°

Students can use this relationship to find unknown angles without formal algebra.

How to use these worksheets

Begin with rules and examples, then move to identifying angle pairs. Practise addition and subtraction before introducing straight-line angles and mixed problems. Use the challenge sheet for extension or review.

Frequently asked questions

What makes two angles adjacent?

They share a common vertex and one common side, and their interiors do not overlap.

Do adjacent angles always add up to 180°?

No. They add to 180° when they form a straight line. Other adjacent angles can have different combined measures.

How do students find a missing adjacent angle?

When the whole angle and one part are known, subtract the known angle from the whole angle. For angles on a straight line, the total is 180°.

Are these worksheets suitable for Grade 5?

The collection is designed for Grade 5 practice and review. Teachers can choose worksheets according to students’ readiness and current learning goals.

Ready to practise adjacent angles?

Choose a worksheet, solve each problem carefully, and review the angle relationships as you work.
