Free Multiplication Worksheet Generator
Build custom printable multiplication worksheets in seconds. Pick which times tables, how many problems, and your preferred format. Save as a PDF or print directly.
How to Use This Generator
This tool creates fresh, randomized multiplication worksheets every time you click "New Problems." That means your child can practice the same skill again and again without ever seeing the same problem set twice.
Three quick steps
- Pick the times tables you want to practice. Tap any number to toggle it on or off.
- Choose problem count and format. Vertical is best for younger kids learning how to line up multi-digit answers. Horizontal works well for fact fluency drills.
- Save as PDF or print. The answer key goes on the second page if you choose to include one.
Tips for parents and teachers
Start small. If your child is just starting out, pick 2 or 3 times tables (the 2s, 5s, and 10s are easiest) and use the 12-problem option. Build up gradually.
Time them — but only sometimes. Once your child knows their facts, occasional timed drills build automaticity. But pressure too early can backfire.
Mix it up. Switch between vertical and horizontal formats so kids learn the math, not just a layout.
Multiplication Mastery — What Order to Teach Times Tables
Most curricula introduce times tables in this order, because each one builds on the previous:
- 2s, 5s, 10s — the easiest, with clear patterns
- 3s and 4s — small numbers with manageable products
- 9s — hands-down kids' favorite trick (the digits in the answer always sum to 9)
- 11s — pattern-based: 11 × 4 = 44, 11 × 7 = 77
- 6s, 7s, 8s — the trickiest, save for last
- 12s — extends practice and supports time/measurement skills
The "Easy (1-5)" preset above starts kids at the foundational level. Once your child has those down cold, expand to all 12.
